Samothraki Microbrewery and our flagship beer "Fonias" (Killer) is the result of a dedicated collective effort with a shared passion for fine beer and for our beloved island of Samothrace.Our small production is aimed at those who appreciate new flavors and want to open up their taste horizons within the area of fresh, unpasteurized beers.

FONIAS Pale Ale 6,2 abv

  • Our inspiration is the dynamic and intense raging torrent and waterfall "Fonias" (Killer) in Samothrace,Northen Aegean,the island of Winged Victory/Nice of Samothrace..
  • We brew a peachy pale ale with aroma of hops and fruit,having a soft,pillowy mouthfeel,full bodied and quiet strong at 6,2 % alc.Fonias Pale Ale beer is handcrafted unpasteurized and fresh so it keeps nutrients intact in beer.Our family microbrewery is located near Kamariotissa Port,using barley malt from Komotini,Thrace and Samothrace’s water,some of the highest quality in Europe.
  • Our beer is the first in Greece to have the name and type of beer printed on the back in Braille system
  • Our label is embossed with a likeness of the waterfall ‘’Fonias’’ and with the copper logo and name of the beer
  • Perfect serving temperature 7-10°C


FONIAS Summer Ipa, Limited Edition 6,7 abv

During the unpredictable summer of 2021,it was the time to brew the new FONIAS SUMMER IPA, limited edition and go with it.A SUMMER IPA 6,7% vol, fresh, unfiltered, unpasteurized with smooth fruity flavor and quality water of the island.

Our inspiration remains Fonias waterfall of Samothrace, but seeing it from a different angle, with this different, shiny, summery beer label.

“The waterfall FONIAS in Samothrace island continues to inspire us for creation, new aromas and flavors. We created FONIAS India Pale Ale, unfiltered, unpasteurized and completely handcrafted beer with Samothrace water, intense hops and a variety of malts. Brewed under the mountain of Saos.

  • Στη Θράκη και συγκεκριμένα στο νησί της Σαμοθράκης έλαβε χώρα η πρώτη παραγωγή μπύρας στην Ελλάδα:

  • Ο βασιλεύς Ουάρρων είχε φτιάξει μεγάλα πιθάρια, χωρητικότητας 300 κιλών δημητριακών, τα οποία έθαβε στην γη.

  • Αυτό δείχνει και την πλούσια παραγωγή δημητριακών τους. Οι Σαΐοι ήσαν και οι πρώτοι οι οποίοι παρασκεύασαν ένα γοητευτικό ποτό, τον «βρύτο», «λίαν δριμύ εκ κριθών, καρπών και ριζών» (λέγει ο Αθήναιος και ο Αρχίλοχος), που δεν είναι άλλο από τη νυν γνωστή μπύρα

  • Η παρασκευή ζίλα και βρύτου απεικονίζεται σε ανάγλυφο ρωμαϊκών χρόνων, το οποίο ευρίσκεται στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Σόφιας.
